Your voice is your instrument! Make the most of your voice whilst protecting your vocal health. GDA offers group singing classes, duet lessons, private 1-1 lessons, and holiday workshops. Along with coaching students in vocal technique, our sessions also explore the magical world of musical theatre. As a GDA student you will have the opportunity to achieve vocal excellence whilst training in a safe, relaxed environment.

Drawing upon the Estill Voice Training Programme, we help students exercise their voices in a way which avoids common vocal problems, such as voice strain and vocal nodules. Our training can be tailored to suit each student’s individual needs, and we encourage all students to fully express themselves whilst losing any inhibitions that may hold them back. Our singing classes are held in a comfortable, space and can be adapted to suit students of all ages, levels, and abilities.

A typical lesson will always begin with vocal  warm ups, moving on to vocal technique exercises designed to enhance and strengthen the voice. Our teachers will guide students in how best to approach a song, whilst analysing the lyrics, and we tackle a song section by section. This method results in an authentic, meaningful performance which displays confidence and depth.

Students are encouraged to participate in live shows, and these opportunities are open for all students; nobody is left out. Whether you’re a curious beginner just starting out, or a seasoned vocalist looking to polish your existing skills and techniques, we have the class for you! We also offer Zoom classes where appropriate.

As a GDA student, you can choose to be entered for singing exams with the London College of Music examination board (LCM). LCM is accredited by OFQUAL and the higher grades contribute towards UCAS points. In preparing for these exams, students are also supported for potential GCSE’s and A-levels in performing arts.

Whilst singing exams are not mandatory at GDA, we encourage students to consider them, as exams provide students with a clear goal, a sense of direction, and real sense of acomplishment.

Along with our holiday drama workshops, singing workshops are available.
